Italian pipe carvers would have good reasons for being grateful to late Achille Savinelli as also thanks to his passionate work Italian pipes were and are appreciated all over the world. His taste and personal style gave a precise imprint to the production of his brand and such style is still evident, even after many years of his passing. Pipe offered confirms the contents of previous lines: it’s a nice variation of a classic Bulldog with gracious proportions. Size of bowl, length of stem and of the bit, capacity of the tobacco chamber, thickness of the bowl’s walls. The ebauchon was carved following a classic British Cut leaving a pleasant bird’s eye in the front and the rear of the bowl: it has a nice warm colour as a result of a respectful use. No further words are necessary because pictures offered speak for themselves ... This is a good opportunity and experienced collectors recognize that the increasing scarcity of first-rate briar, particularly that used in the smooth or natural finished pipes, will surely cause pipes like this one to increase in value over time. “Giubileo d’Oro” is the higher Savinelli’s grade for classic shapes and only perfect pipes receive this prestigious allocation. Size of this pipe is like a Dunhill group 5 and it’s “as new” as was smoked very few times.
