It’s the first time that
I propose a prestigious early pipe from W. Ø. Larsen on my web site
and admit that I’m not an expert of this brand; luckily, friend Bo Langer
from Denmark helped me to complete these few notes on basis of his experience
acquired in many years of collaboration with the firm in Copenhagen.
W. Ø. Larsen is recognized
as the founders of the famous Danish style and design of pipe making. Pipe
enthusiasts everywhere must be forever grateful for his creativity and
impressive production.
This offering blends the traditional
English Pot with the unique and attractive Danish style. A true “new style”
was born, spurring other Danish and Scandinavian carvers to loftier levels
of creativity and output. Today, Scandinavian pipes are among the most
expensive, beautiful, and well-engineered pipes in the world.
This Pot is perfect in every
respect, other than for a very slight over buffing of the bit where it
meets the stem. Walls of the bowl are very thick, nomenclature is crisp
and legible and there are not marks on the bit.
To conclude, pipe stands up and
the size is comparable to that of a Dunhill Group 4.
