Description

This vintage large presmoked
pipe weighs 80 grams (2.80 oz.), has a flush silver band stamped “Mastro
de Paja – Ciocco” (not a repair) fitted on the stem and is in very good
condition. External diameter of the bowl is 48 mm., internal 23 and height
58. (1.9, 1.0 and 2.3 inches, respectively).

This is an example of Mastro
de Paja’s original carving style as it was in the early years of this famous
brand when M° Guidi imprinted his personal innovative taste which was
much appreciated by the late and lamented Italian President, Sandro Pertini.
It was carved with
particular attention to the center of the briar, which exactly corresponds
to the bottom of the bowl. allowing a regular vertical design to the darkest
briar fibres.
This pipe may interest
both advanced Mastro’s Collectors as well as enthusiasts of giant pipes.
The tobacco chamber, in which only British mixtures were smoked, has very
thick walls and a large capacity and is very well suited for a long and
pleasant smoke.
