The “197”, as well as the
shorter “196”, were very popular half a century ago – remember how Bing
Crosby loved those l o n g billiards. Their extra long stems
produce a very cool smoke and create an elegant, sophisticated image.
This pipe has a great character
and sheer elegance; the briar shows a dense pattern with lot of bird’s
eye, the bowl has very thick walls and the Bruyere colour is that which
characterized the years between 1965 and 1975.
Once more, I must emphasize that
it’s not easy to find a brand new, unsmoked 34 year old pipe like this
one!
