Billiards are certainly the
“Classic of the Classics” in the panoply of English pipes.
This offering represents the
rare opportunity to own a Dunhill pipe in the prestigious natural Root
finish, one that will surely appeal to both expert smokers and collectors.
This pipe is still perfect in
every respect despite it was made circa 20 years ago: thick walls, dense
graining, warm colour and a Factory’s 18ct gold band which adds rarity
and prestige.
It’s not coincidental that Dunhill
in recent years introduced it’s second from the top Amber Root finish and
that its premier finish, the Root briar, is very scarce and becoming more
so with each passing day.
I must share a personal opinion
reached after some decades of passionate collecting: pipes offered by Dunhill
in the mid ‘80s are of a very high quality. I don’t know the reason, but
this is my firm convincement supported by numerous passed experiences.
Last but not least, a last comment
is necessary in respect of the price, as it’s greatly influenced from the
high cost of the prestigious, rare, exclusive and originally fitted Factory’s
18-carat gold band. Such band is currently priced over 700 Euro.
