Notes
|
|
It’s difficult to comment
this shape as it’s the quintessential classic bent pipe and is quite familiar
to all pipe smokers. That said, I just underscore that it’s brand-new despite
the 38 years of age.
It has a generous bowl with
a warm vintage dense grain redolent of the Corsican briar from which it
was carved so many years ago.
It’s noteworthy that Dunhill
in recent years introduced it’s second from the top Amber Root finish and
that its premier finish, the Root briar, is very scarce and becoming more
so with each passing day.
I’ve collected Dunhills since
1978 and this is one of the better #56: for this reason I won’t tout its
qualities anymore. If no one takes me up on this offer, I will be more
than willing to retain this gem in my personal collection.
