This
is truly a mint pipe despite its 37 years of age: the nomenclature is crisp,
the mouthpiece perfect, the shape superb, the stem very long for a billiard,
and the vintage patina and deepening colour of the stain that comes with
time, are all quite evident.
Descriptive
words can only detract from this gem, therefore I suggest you look at the
photographs and take advantage of this great and rare opportunity.
I remind
expert collectors that Root DR graded vintage pipes will become even more
rare and valuable than they already are.
It’s not
coincidental that Dunhill in recent years introduced the straight grain
allocation (flames) to it’s second from the top Amber Root finish and that
its premier finish, the Root briar, is very scarce and becoming more so
with each passing day. A DR Root is the rarest of the rare!
Overall
dimension of this pipe is that of a generous group 4.
