superb shape. Both the 1978 and 1989 are in near newcondition. It's as
if they were never smoked. The shipping took a mere five days, from Italy

excellent! This may sound like "sucking up" but, I must admit that, I have

C. R. and the late C. M. (pipe maker and repairman) first started teaching
me how to properly refurbish pipes. I've received many compliments over
the years, especially at pipe shows where I've had a display, about the
quality of my work. After seeing this pipe, I can't help but wish that
someday I might have the opportunity to learn some more from another "master".
I have rarely, if ever, referred to a pipe as pristine. This pipe is one
which is due that title.

| Yes, the pipe arrived just at
the weekend, meticulously packed and in perfect condition. It's a
beauty. I admit I was dubious because it is made (I believe) after
the sale of Charatan from Dunhill to JB Russell in 1988, which most people
think the pipes' quality had become poor.
However, I smoked it and it is as you said, a wonderful smoker which enhances the flavors of the English blends in a special way, with the mellowness of the Dunhills and the brightness of the Castellos ...
